Y'POETRY internationaal poëzieproject voor jongeren

Y′POETRY 2012, een internationaal project voor jongeren van 15 - 17 jaar in Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Berlijn en Londen.

Europese partners voor 2012 zijn de Eastside Educational Trust in Londen, Villanella in Antwerpen en Theater an der Parkaue in Berlijn.

In het voorjaar van 2012 geven docenten van School der Poëzie les in bovengenoemde steden aan de hand van een speciaal ontwikkelde werkbundel. In de bundel staan in drie talen actuele gedichten uit België, Duitsland, Engeland en Nederland. Het thema is De stad. Jongeren lezen en analyseren de gedichten en worden zelf aan het schrijven gezet. De mooiste gedichten worden voorgedragen in een van de voorrondes.
In elke stad vinden twee voorrondes plaats: de zogenaamde Y′POETRY Revues. Een deskundige jury bepaalt wie er naar de Internationale Finale in Amsterdam gaan. 8 Finalisten per stad. De finale vindt plaats op vrijdag 20 april 2012.

Kurzeinleitung

Die Schwelle zur Poesie ist hoch: vor allem für Jugendliche (mit geringer Schulbildung), die Lesen selten zu ihrer Lieblingsbeschäftigung rechnen. Die Amsterdamer ‘School der Poezie’ (Schule der Poesie) hat eine Lehrmethode entwickelt, mit der an vielen Oberschulen aber besonders an Hauptschulen gearbeitet wird. Das Hauptziel dabei ist Jugendliche nicht nur mit dem Lesen und Schreiben von Poesie vertraut zu machen, sondern auch mit dem Zuhören und Vortragen von Gedichten in einem Theater vor einem Publikum während einer dynamisch-lebendigen PoesieRevue. Die Vorträge der Jugendlichen wechseln mit Performances von Musikern ab, mit einer Tanzgruppe, Schauspielern und mit einem Lyriker und werden auf eine Bühne präsentiert. Eine professionelle Jury beurteilt am Ende die Gedichte der Jugendlichen. Jährlich erreicht 'School der Poëzie' mit sehr intensiven und qualitativ guten Projekten mehr als 10.000 Jugendliche.

Y'POETRY steht für Young Poetry und wird wie das englische „Why Poetry“ ausgesprochen. Mindestens 4 Schüle einer Stadt partizipieren an Y'POETRY.

Y'POETRY ist eine Initiative der School der Poëzie (Amsterdam, die Niederlande) in Zusammenarbeit mit Theater an der Parkaue (Berlin, Deutschland), Villanella (Antwerp, Belgien), Eastside Educational Trust (London, Großbritannien)

Y′POETRY 2012 is an international project for young people from 15 – 17 years in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin and London. European partners for the year of 2012 are the Eastside Educational Trust in London, Villanella in Antwerp and Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin.

They read and discuss the poems contained in a specially compiled anthology of contemporary European poetry, After which they set about writing their own poems. In each participating city two prelimanary rounds -Y′POETRY Revues- are held. A panel of experts will judge their work, and the best young ‘poets’ are invited to spend a weekend in Amsterdam.

The young winners from all of the cities involved will present their poems during the International Final on the evening of Friday the 20^th of April. The event will take place in an action-packed show with contributions by professional artists and poets. An international panel will judge the poems and decide the winner of the Y′POETRY prize for 2012.

Introduction

The threshold to poetry is high: especially for poorly educated young people, those with limited reading-skills, those who don’t regard reading as a “hobby”. School der Poëzie (School of Poetry – SdP) has developed a reading method which is used in many secondary schools. The priority is that youngsters aren’t merely acquainted with the reading and writing of poetry but also present their poetry to a larger public during an effervescent ‘Poetry Revue’ in a theatre. The recitations of the youngsters is interspersed with performances by professional musicians, dance troupes, actors and poets. The poems of the SdP participants are then judged by a professional jury. Every year SdP reaches in excess of 10.000 young people with its intensive, high quality projects!

In 2009 SdP developed an international poetry project for young people from 15 to 17 years old using the above-mentioned formula. The project was christened Y'POETRY. The ‘Y’ stands for both ‘Young’ and ‘Why’.
A pilot was performed with institutions and schools from Amsterdam, Antwerp, London, Berlin and Brussels. The second edition in 2010, this time a Belgian initiative, was once again very successful.

In the coming years SdP intends to further develop and expand its co-operation with other countries and make Y'POETRY a biennial event.
